This is a permanent post and tThe shift pattern for this post Tuesday to Friday 8- 5 flexible working pattern plus 1:25 on:call South Glasgow rota and will be 34 hours per week, please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Applications are invited for Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry who have completed CCT or are within 6 months of doing so with Section 22 AMP status. Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, a license to practice and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher Specialist Training leading to a CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within six months of confirmed entry at the date of interview. Non UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
This is an 8.5 session post with the possibility of working flexibly in South Glasgow City HSCP. The post is based at Elderpark Resource Centre Govan Glasgow with wards at Leverndale Hospital South Glasgow. The post includes opportunity for 0.5 EPA for ECT which is at Leverndale Hospital Glasgow. Elderpark Resource Centre covers a catchment of approximately 17,200 over 65 patients.
This post will cover an area of 5,000 patients in the community, with inpatient responsibility for acute functional inpatients for the whole catchment area. The postholder will work closely alongside 2 other 0.9WTE consultant older adult psychiatrists based at Elderpark. There is an option for inpatient responsibilities to rotate with the other consultants. There is expectation to be part of the South Glasgow rota on-call (1:25 at least).
The on-call almost always has a second on higher trainee up to 3am each day. The successful candidate will work as part of the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, offering outpatient, inpatient and domiciliary assessment of older people with mental health problems.
The candidate must be able to work in a collaborative way with other professionals and other agencies. There is opportunity for regular high quality CPD and teaching, quality improvement and a robust clinical governance structure. The postholder will be expected to have recognition of trainer status as there is frequent resident doctors placed in South Glasgow Old Age Psychiatry. There are strong collegiate links with the other 5 South and East Renfrewshire consultant old age psychiatrists and the post holder will be a member of the larger Greater Glasgow and Clyde Division of Old Age Psychiatry.
