* Job Description:
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Handyman/Maintenance Person to oversee the upkeep and maintenance of our 45-bed residential mental health care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the facility remains in excellent condition, providing a safe and comfortable environment for our residents and staff.
* Responsibilities:
Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing, electrical systems, and other equipment around the home.
Perform general carpentry work including repairing furniture, doors, windows, and fixtures.
Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify any maintenance issues or safety hazards and address them promptly. E.g Legionella auditing, water temperature charts etc.
General steaming and cleaning rooms from any foul or hazardous matter.
Basic decorating skills – able to paint and improve any rooms which are in need of attention.
Handle minor gardening and outdoor maintenance tasks such as lawn care, snow removal etc.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from residents and staff, and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
Assist with other duties as needed to support the smooth operation of the care home.
Driver's Licence preferred but not mandatory.
Full UK Mandatory Enhanced DBP to be taken before commencing work (done at the home)
Mandatory training provided by the home about working in a care home.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a handyman or maintenance person, preferably in a residential care home or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of general maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, carpentry.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and contractors in a care home.
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, and climbing.
