Overview
The Derbyshire Recovery Partnership are looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be our new Drug and Alcohol Worker in Chesterfield. The role will work with people involved in the criminal justice system, supporting individuals who may be leaving prison or already living in the local community. You will receive training to coordinate care and deliver one‑to‑one and group psychosocial and harm reduction interventions.
Responsibilities
* Manage a small caseload and provide a high‑intensity, high‑frequency of support to people living in the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire community.
* Coordinate care and support for clients under licence conditions, Alcohol Treatment Requirements (ATR) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirements (DRR) court orders.
* Work closely with the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, Courts, Liaison and Diversion, prison healthcare and probation services.
* Apply for prison vetting and, once cleared, conduct prison in‑reach assessments for people leaving prison and support them in planning comprehensive community‑based care.
* Liaise regularly with other professionals and local specialist services as part of the role.
* Prepare and deliver psychosocial and harm reduction interventions within the stipulated timescales.
* Keep accurate records and a small caseload in the agreed system.
Qualifications & Competencies
* Demonstrated passion for working with people using drugs and/or alcohol who are involved in the criminal justice system.
* Innovative, motivating and proactive approach to case management and service delivery.
* Ability to transfer skills from previous experience and willingness to learn in the field of drug and alcohol treatment.
* Good organisational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
* Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle for travel to outreach locations (travel expenses for outreach are reimbursed).
Employment Details
* Base: Chesterfield office and Chesterfield Probation Office.
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00.
* Contract: Permanent.
* Salary: £26,298 per annum (potential annual increase up to £28,000 pro rata).
* Annual leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays (increasing to a maximum of 30 days pro rata).
