Applications engineer Cambridgeshire Working Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM About the Position My client is seeking a dedicated and technically proficient Applications Engineer to support the preparation of multidisciplinary proposals that merge both technical and commercial content. While prior experience in a similar role is highly desirable, we are equally interested in candidates with a strong engineering background and a drive to deliver outstanding results. Although the role is primarily office-based, it includes opportunities for international travel, primarily within the EMEAR region, to engage directly with clients and contribute to technical and commercial discussions. Key Responsibilities for the applications engineer role: * Technical Analysis Interpret and analyse customer enquiries and specifications to design and specify appropriate equipment. * Process Design Develop a solid understanding of process design and calculations. Full training will be provided. * Proposal Development Prepare competitive, technically sound, and commercially viable proposals aligned with customer requirements and defined scope. * Customer Engagement Maintain communication with customers during the quotation phase, addressing technical and commercial questions to secure purchase orders. * Post-Order Support Work with the project execution team, prepare process data sheets, and support the drafting team as needed. * Continuous Improvement Enhance sales documentation and presentations using Microsoft Office and other relevant software. * Quality and Safety Compliance Adhere to quality management systems (ISO9001:2015, ISO14001, ISO45001) and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment. Requirements * Education Minimum HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. * Industry Experience Previous experience in sales, proposals, or related industries. Experience with fired combustion equipment or similar process knowledge is advantageous.
