About The Role You will play a crucial role in preparing Civil related estimates within our Heat Networks team, and liaising with our preferred civil engineering sub-contract supply chain for project related tender packages. Preparing a projected net cost model for proposed projects and managing the tender process through site visits, tender packages, liaison with other departments, contractors and any proposed clients. Key responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for tenders and projects related to civil works, including trenching, ducting, and reinstatement Accurately assess drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to develop comprehensive pricing models Price multiple elements of utility works including comms/HV and LV ducting, and district heating systems Assess and price temporary works requirements such as trench supports, traffic management, access platforms, and structural supports Develop bills of quantities from drawings, specifications, and other technical document Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate quotations Develop and maintain unit rates and cost databases for civil, utility works and district heating. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure consistent pricing. Provide input into the value engineering process and suggest cost-saving measures. Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required. Support post-tender negotiations and handover to operational teams. What you will need Proven experience as an estimator within the civil engineering sector. In-depth knowledge of trenching techniques, multi-utility installations, and district heating infrastructure. Strong understanding of current industry rates, methods of measurement and pricing strategies. Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as Candy, Conquest, or similar. Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
