Accounts Assistant – Department of Geography (SPRI)
We are looking for a highly motivated and professional Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts Office team at the Department of Geography, incorporating the Scott Polar Research Institute, based across Downing Place and Lensfield Road.
Key Responsibilities
* Process all procurement and accounts within the department and support the Senior Accounts Clerk at SPRI.
* Act as first point of contact for departmental purchasing, liaise with budget holders and suppliers and raise purchase orders.
* Provide accounts payable and receivable administration and support month and year‑end processes, including the annual P11D return.
* Maintain accurate filing systems, archiving and assist with general accounting tasks.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the accounts office administration and report ineffective processes to the Accounts Office Manager.
Required Qualifications
* Educational background to GCSE level, NVQ level 2 or equivalent practical experience.
* Essential experience in an administrative role with strong accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Knowledge of finance, accounts principles and processes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
