Our Vision - Smart People. Solving Complex Challenges. Making our world safe and secure.

We are a leading supplier of turnkey bespoke aircraft modification solutions, aerospace engineering, and test & evaluation services to governments and industry. For our Special Missions and Commercial aircraft modifications, certification is at the heart of what we do. We are a niche EASA 21J DOA with a strong, employee-focused culture and highly professional work ethic. Opportunities exist to work as part of a global and dynamic team environment both locally and abroad on special mission aircraft modification and commercial aviation projects.

The Role

As the Mechanical Design Team Lead, you are accountable for the delivery of all artefacts covered by the mechanical discipline within the Nova DOA, such as drawing sets, compliance reports, and test plans. You are responsible for the effective supervision of the mechanical design team to meet business and regulatory requirements. The role includes oversight of all mechanical design activities across the Special Missions arm of Nova System's DOA, ensuring informed and accurate technical and certification advice is provided to the team.

* Supervise and develop designs and artefacts in accordance with the EASA Design handbook, aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, installation teams, and suppliers to provide cohesive solutions.
* Review and influence designs to ensure compliance with customer specifications, functional requirements, certification, design rules, and manufacturing standards.
* Lead resolution of technical issues within projects, liaising with broader teams, maintenance organizations, and suppliers as needed.
* Coordinate with the Project Manager to deliver design, certification, manufacturing, and installation within budget and schedule, providing regular progress updates.
* Act as Project Lead within your discipline across projects, developing project plans, achieving results within budgets, and reporting progress to management.
* Ensure compliance with Nova WHS policies and Safety Management System.
* Perform other tasks as directed by team leads or supervisors.

What are we looking for?

* Current or previous Panel 3 (Structures) CVE in appropriate disciplines (Small/Large Rotorcraft and Aeroplanes).
* Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks 3D, AutoCAD 2D) and MS Office Suite.
* Knowledge of applicable EASA law, regulation, and design codes (Part 21, CS 23, CS 25, CS 27, CS 29).
* Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing and production processes for metallic and composite materials.
* Relevant academic qualifications or equivalent experience.
* Excellent communication skills across all levels, including senior management.
* Willingness to educate and develop future aerospace engineers.
* Self-motivated with a drive for continuous professional development.
* Must have a NATO country Passport and be eligible to work in the UK.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes

* Experience working in and around hangar environments from a design perspective.
* Practical mechanical engineering skills.
* Membership of relevant institutions and Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
* Experience supervising a small, high-performing engineering team.
