GBP90 : GBP110 per day Havering

We are currently recruiting for an inspiring and steadfast support staff member to join a highly regarded Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in the Havering area. The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated LSA/TA to become an integral part of a forward:thinking SEN provision in Havering. You will be supporting students across various age groups who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP) detailing complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and associated sensory or communication processing needs.



Your role will go beyond academic support; you will be a stabilising presence, helping students regulate their emotions, develop essential life skills, and engage with a curriculum designed to maximise their independence. You will work closely with a passionate team to create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment.



Core Responsibilities

* Targeted Support: Deliver bespoke 1:1 or small group support, ensuring the specific academic and social goals outlined in each students EHCP are met with consistency and care.
* Curriculum Adaptation: Work proactively alongside the Class Teacher to differentiate lessons, creating and utilising resources (such as workstations or visual aids) to make learning accessible.
* Behavioural Guidance: Implement positive behaviour support plans and use effective de:escalation techniques to help students manage anxiety and regulate their emotions safely.
* Communication Support: actively support and model the use of communication aids, including PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, or other AAC devices, to give every student a voice.
* Holistic Care: Assist with personal care and mobility where necessary, while supervising students during transitions, lunch, and break times to ensure their safety and well:being.
* Team Collaboration: Liaise professionally with external therapists (Speech and Language, Physio, OT) and parents to ensure a joined:up approach to the childs development.



Essential Profile

* Experience: proven experience (professional or voluntary) working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs, particularly ASC, SLD, or complex behavioural needs.
* SEN Knowledge: A strong understanding of sensory processing issues and the barriers to learning faced by non:verbal or neurodiverse students.
* Resilience and Empathy: The ability to remain calm under pressure, adaptable to changing daily routines, and endlessly patient in your approach to support.
* Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to work effectively within a large multi:disciplinary team.
* Compliance: A valid Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness for one immediately).
