About the Role
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will play a key role in empowering students with learning difficulties and disabilities to access the curriculum, develop independence and achieve their personal learning goals.Working closely with teaching staff, you will support learners across a range of vocational areas, helping them to participate fully in lessons, build confidence and reach their potential.This role offers invaluable experience for anyone aspiring to move into teaching or education support roles in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support young people to achieve their personalised learning outcomes, including those outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans
* Adapt classroom resources to ensure accessibility (e.g., enlarging text, simplifying language)
* Support the delivery of therapy interventions such as Physiotherapy or Speech and Language Therapy, following professional guidance
* Work directly with learners to review and adjust support needs
* Undertake relevant training and development as agreed with the Learning Support Manager
* Use initiative, empathy and professionalism when supporting learners in a variety of settings
Requirements
GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent
Ideally, experience working with individuals with SEND
A flexible, proactive and compassionate approach
A genuine interest in supporting young people to thrive
An enthusiasm for education-this role is an excellent pathway for those considering a teaching career
