Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Wigan as Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner. PLEASE NOTE: A EMHP qualification is essential for this role.

We are looking for skilled practitioners, with mental health experience, who can provide low intensity evidenced based CBT interventions, manage risk and are passionate about young person-centred practice.

Successful candidates will play an important part in the in the delivery of high-quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of young people in education settings.

As part of the team, you will be empowered to shape and build the service with further education settings in Wigan. You will help build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and the wider network.

Main duties of the job

The Mental Health Practitioner will be an integral part of the MHST in Wigan. You will use your clinical skills to listen to the needs of the child, young person and family to provide meaningful evidenced based interventions. You will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals in the life of the child/young person. You will work closely with education professionals to foster a whole school/college approach to mental well-being.

The MHST Mental Health Practitioner will play a key role in

1. Forming strong working relations with education settings
2. Providing consultations to education colleagues and support education settings to embed a whole school approach to wellbeing
3. Developing and delivering evidence-based individual and group time limited interventions to young people within education settings
4. Evidencing the outcomes of the MHST service
5. Providing clinical supervision to Education Mental Health practitioners

Qualifications

Essential criteria

12. •EMHP qualification
13. •Completion of an EMHP Supervisors Course
14. •Evidence of continuing professional development in the field of child and adolescent mental health

Experience

Essential criteria

15. •Experience of assessment and delivering evidence based mental health interventions including low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy interventions
16. •Experience and knowledge of implementing safeguarding procedures for children and adults

Desirable criteria

17. •Experience of supporting young people in an educational setting
18. •Experience of Multi-disciplinary working within a CAMHS setting
19. •Experience of delivering whole school approach activity

Knowledge

Essential criteria

20. •Understanding of child and adolescent development.
21. •Knowledge of risk assessment and safety planning.

Desirable criteria

22. •Ability to teach and train others using multi-media materials suitable for presentation within public.

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
