An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health services manager in Redbridge. This post will reflect and compliment an existing post in adult community mental health services (MHWT/EIP). The Mental Health Services Manager will lead, develop and operationally manage specialist Learning Disabilities (LD), Older Adult Mental Health (OA), and Rough Sleeper Mental Health (RSMH) services across the ICD’s footprint. This includes community teams, memory services, specialist health clinics, dementia support including Admiral nurses, housing/homelessness outreach and support, and health links with social care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will ensure high-quality, safe, person-centred services tailored to the needs of:
* Adults with learning disabilities and complex physical, behavioural, communication or forensic needs
* Older adults with functional or organic mental health conditions, including dementia
* Rough sleepers with mental health difficulties
* Carers, families and partners across London’s diverse communities
They will work as part of the wider mental health management team across Redbridge Directorate, providing operational management and clinical leadership to the teams and staff in their portfolio. They work closely with the other Redbridge Mental Health Services Manager to ensure a cohesive approach and support across all community MH services. They will be a part of the extended Senior Leadership Team in Redbridge, attending Trust meetings as required and deputising for the Assistant Director where necessary.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder will oversee a portfolio of specialist services and hold responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of these in line with NELFT values and national requirements. They will need to have a through understanding of legislation relating to the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Equality Act and Homelessness Reduction Act, as applied to these services. As a senior leader, they will need to have proven experience of managing teams and supporting staff through change processes.
The role involves a degree of liaison with external organisations, including local authority adult social care; housing, homelessness and street outreach teams; substance services; the ICB and other commissioners; care homes and acute hospitals; and other voluntary and community sector organisations.
They will have proven experience in managing budgets and developing business cases for funding in order to ensure continuation of the specialist roles within these teams. They will work with patient and carer representatives to advocate for the needs of the client group and engage in quality improvement initiatives as part of the ongoing development of the services.
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
