The Opportunity
We are currently providing support to a young person in looked after care in the Hornchurch area. The young person is a non-verbal Year 2 pupil with autism. We are looking specifically for a SEND specialist to support with play-based learning.
Support will take place in a local community centre in Hornchurch. The young person requires 6 hours of support each week which will take place in 2 hour timeslots on Monday, Wednesday & Friday however this can be flexible.
This role would be best suited to individuals from a Special Educational Needs background, for example Support Workers, Carers, SEN Teaching Assistants, SEN mentors.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:
1. Teaching, tutoring, or learning support experience as a minimum
2. Strong experience working with individuals with a variety of SEND
3. PECS/Makaton training preferred
4. Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
5. Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:
6. Hold the right to work in the UK
7. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
8. Provide two professional child-related references.
