Senior to Principal Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer

Nova Geo Consulting is seeking a skilled professional to join our growing ground engineering team. This senior-level role has been created due to ongoing growth and demand across quarrying, mining, and civil infrastructure sectors.
The position is based at our Newport (Shropshire) office, with regular UK-wide travel to client sites. We support office-based, remote, or hybrid working arrangements for the right candidate.

Nova Geo Consulting is an independent geoscience consultancy providing high-quality geological and geotechnical services to the quarrying, mining, and civil engineering industries. We are known for technical expertise, practical approaches, and strong client partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead or support geotechnical services for quarrying and mineral extraction projects across the UK.
2. Produce extraction plans and quarry designs.
3. Conduct slope stability assessments for soil and rock faces.
4. Scope, plan, and oversee geotechnical investigations to inform design and safety.
5. Prepare technical reports and risk assessments.
6. Collaborate with clients on technical needs, proposals, and fee estimates.
7. Provide guidance and mentorship to early-career engineers and support staff.
Candidate Requirements
1. Chartered status (or working towards it) with CGeol, CEng, or similar body.
2. Strong academic background in Geology, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, or related fields, with postgraduate training in Geotechnical Engineering.
3. Experience in geotechnical or engineering geology services, preferably in quarrying, mining, or heavy civil sectors.
4. Knowledge of UK legislation and regulations.
5. Experience managing ground investigations and data interpretation.
6. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the UK.
7. Legal right to work in the UK.

2. Excellent communication skills, able to engage with clients and produce technical documentation.
