Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and inspirational Teacher of Music and Drama to join our successful Performing Arts department from September 2026 on a permanent basis.
This is a unique opportunity for a talented teacher to deliver a balanced timetable across both Music and Drama, inspiring students through performance, creativity and artistic expression. The successful candidate will be passionate about both subjects and committed to delivering engaging and challenging lessons that motivate students of all abilities.
The role will consist of approximately 50% Drama and 50% Music teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful applicant will contribute fully to the wider life of the school through productions, performances, concerts and extracurricular activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Music and Drama lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
* Inspire students through creative and engaging teaching practices
* Prepare students for performances, productions, concerts and school events
* Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively
* Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment
* Contribute to the continued development of the Performing Arts curriculum
* Support extracurricular activities including choirs, drama clubs, productions and musical performances
* Support the Catholic ethos and wider life of the school
* Participate fully in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings and school events
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
* Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Have experience teaching both Music and Drama in a secondary school setting
* Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
* Be passionate about developing students’ confidence, creativity and performance skills
* Be committed to raising attainment and student progress
* Support and uphold the Catholic values and ethos of the school
* Be an effective team player with a positive and proactive attitude
