Join to apply for the Component Design Engineer role at TieTalent. Rolls-Royce is a respected engineering organisation operating in many sectors including energy, aerospace, marine and defence. Due to a number of exciting change and transformational activities across the Rolls-Royce business we are now seeking to add a number of Component Design Engineers.
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of a variety of components and assemblies across a range of sub-systems. Duties can extend to supporting broader activities such as understanding in-service operation, testing and verification programmes, technology development activities, and development of tools and methods.
You will be part of a large multi-disciplinary team tasked with delivering novel gas turbine sub-systems and component solutions as part of a next generation power and propulsion system and supporting our in-service products. The Design Engineer will be based in Bristol 3 days per week, with 2 days spent remote working.
Responsibilities
* Deliver design solutions for component(s) and complex assemblies with consideration of safety, quality, manufacturing capability, and product robustness.
* Evaluate how current products operate in service to improve their reliability.
* Deliver definitions to appropriate stakeholder groups (e.g., manufacturing, project customers, analysis team) in accordance with policies via conventional and future state approaches (Model Based Definition in association with the Model Based Environment).
* Develop tool sets, methods, standards, and best practice guidance for sub-systems and components. Capture lessons learnt.
What we're looking for
* Experience as a Design Engineer in a tightly regulated industry; ideally aerospace or defence.
* Technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies, with understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts including manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, cost engineering, and product definition.
* Experience in using Siemens NX (or equivalent CAD software), Teamcenter or other PLM suites is ideal but not essential.
