Are you a Clinical Coder looking for a change, with experience coding multiple specialties in an acute hospital setting? Mid Cheshire Hospital has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our expanding team.
The post holder will be responsible for abstracting complex clinical data from patients' health records and translating it into classification codes, ensuring that the quality and depth of coding adhere to the national clinical coding standards set out by NHS England. Successful candidates will be supported in sitting the National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) with opportunities for further progression within the department.
The Clinical Coding Services Department is dedicated to staff development and evolving clinical coding services.
Candidates must have completed an NHS Clinical Coding Standards course; however, those without experience may be considered for a Band 3 Trainee position.
* The key responsibility is to abstract complex clinical information from discharge summaries and translate medical terminology into alpha-numerical codes using ICD-10 for diagnoses and OPCS for interventions and procedures, in line with national standards.
* All Clinical Coders must apply coding within set deadlines to support ‘Payment by Results’, with assistance from ACC Clinical Coders and Team Leaders, following departmental procedures.
* The post holder should identify, monitor, and report data quality issues on the PCS system and in source documents.
* Complete workload within the Trust’s daily coding targets to meet monthly deadlines. Update personal coding classifications following changes published by NHS England.
* Support and guide less experienced clinical coders.
