About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our growing Aspect Ecology team in Oxfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work across sectors including housing, renewables, retail, and infrastructure, on projects that require your technical expertise, project management skills, and client engagement abilities.
In this role, you’ll lead complex ecological surveys, including UKHab and protected species work, and prepare high-quality reports such as PEAs, EcIAs, and BNG assessments. You’ll manage multiple projects of varying sizes, liaise directly with clients, mentor junior staff, and contribute to tenders and licences. You will also collaborate with colleagues across APEM Group, offering opportunities to broaden your skills and networks.
To be successful, you’ll need:
* At least 3 years of professional ecological consultancy experience
* A relevant degree (preferably with postgraduate qualification)
* Strong botanical and faunal ID skills
* Experience designing and conducting habitat and protected species surveys
* Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
* Excellent report writing, project management, and client liaison skills
* Full or Associate membership of CIEEM (or eligibility)
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including some overnight stays
It would be advantageous if you also have:
* Protected species survey licences
* Experience with development licence applications and mitigation design
* Familiarity with GIS (e.g., QGIS)
* Knowledge of NVC or MoRPh methodologies
* Experience mentoring or leading junior staff
