Senior Quantity Surveyor – Carpentry Package (£16m) – East London
We are recruiting for a well-established carpentry contractor delivering high-quality packages across major residential developments in London. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take full commercial responsibility for a £16m carpentry package on a large-scale residential scheme based in East London.
This is a long-term opportunity for a commercially astute professional who can operate as the No.1 QS on the project, leading the package from procurement through to final account.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
* Take full commercial ownership of a £16m carpentry package
* Manage the project lifecycle from procurement to final account
* Lead subcontract procurement and negotiation
* Oversee cost reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management
* Prepare and manage valuations, variations, and change control
* Handle subcontractor accounts and commercial administration
* Liaise closely with the main contractor and project delivery team
* Protect and enhance project margins
* Report directly to senior management
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring confidence, strong contractual knowledge, and the ability to operate independently.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Senior QS
* Background in carpentry, interiors, or specialist subcontracting preferred
* Experience delivering large residential projects
* Strong knowledge of JCT contracts
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage a project autonomously as No.1 QS
* Stable employment history
