To supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the MRO workshop, ensuring efficient workflow, effective communication, and high standards of quality, safety, and performance. The role provides leadership and support to the workshop team to achieve on-time delivery, continuous improvement, and alignment with commercial priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily workshop operations to ensure production targets and customer delivery schedules are met.
* Liaise closely with the Materials Coordinator to confirm parts availability and with the Commercial Team to align workloads and priorities.
* Allocate tasks and responsibilities across technicians, trainees, and apprentices according to capability, experience, and workload.
* Monitor work progress throughout the day, identifying and resolving delays, bottlenecks, or resource issues.
* Coordinate with the night shift team, ensuring smooth handovers, clear communication, and continuity of work between shifts.
* Support and enforce compliance with company procedures, MOE, and regulatory standards (CAA/EASA/FAA).
* Ensure completed work is presented for inspection and sign-off in accordance with company quality and airworthiness requirements.
* Conduct regular performance reviews and 1:1 meetings, providing feedback, coaching, and guidance to support staff development and accountability.
* Identify training needs and liaise with management to ensure ongoing skills development and progression within the team.
* Maintain accurate workshop records, including job status updates, attendance, output metrics, and shift handovers.
* Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, and professionalism across all workshop shifts.
* Assist the Avionics Maintenance Manager with departmental reporting, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Requirements
* Proven supervisory or team-lead experience within a Part-145 component MRO environment.
* Strong understanding of maintenance processes, documentation, and regulatory compliance (CAA/EASA/FAA).
* Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of technicians, trainees, and apprentices.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proactive and solutions-oriented approach with strong attention to detail.
* Confident conducting performance reviews and 1:1 meetings.
* Proficient in MS Office and comfortable using maintenance management or ERP systems.
* Technical background advantageous but not essential.
* Day-shift position with responsibility for cross-shift coordination and communication.
