Overview
We are looking for someone kind, fun, consistent and motivating to support a lovely 13 year old to access his education at his home in Hassocks, and at his provisions. He has autism with PDA which means tasks can sometimes feel completely overwhelming for him, and he needs someone to help him break them down and made them feel more manageable. He also has a diagnosis of Von Williebrands disease, anxiety and sensory needs. This young person is currently being educated outside of school.
Responsibilities
* Supporting his independence and executive functioning skills (e.g. supporting him to get ready for the day\'s learning, encouraging him to organise his room and desk, and locate all of the resources that he needs to start a task, etc.)
* Supporting him to access the community — taking him for walks, encouraging him to make purchases in a shop, travel training when appropriate
* Driving him to his in-centre education provision and back
* Taking him to the OT and supporting him with the OT exercises they recommend daily
* Supporting him to identify education projects (you will have support with this from his education coordinator) and spending time each day working towards these projects
* Supporting him to consider the resourcing he will need for his weekly projects
Hours
The hours we are looking for are school term time only (39 weeks) for 12 hours a week, so this role might really suit someone who is looking for a job around their own child care needs.
* Mondays: 9.30am - 11.30am
* Wednesdays: 9.30am - 11.30am
* Thursdays: 9.30am - 11.30am
