Cancer Services Team Leader

The primary responsibility of the postholder will be to provide direct leadership and support to the MDT Co-ordinators & Cancer Trackers, organising and managing the members of staff, including providing support in the case of leave and ensuring that multi-disciplinary teams (MDMs) are run to a consistently high quality.
In addition, the post holder will support with the delivery of both National and Local targets, managing and co-ordinating the work of the MDT co-ordinators and trackers in terms of their contribution and provide management support for the Senior Managers, Lead Cancer Nurse and Clinical Director.
Main duties of the job
* Leadership: Act as an ambassador for Cancer Services and foster a motivating and respectful work environment.
* Staff Management: Line manage and develop a team, ensuring departmental goals are met and maintained.
* Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for staff, ensuring they are skilled and compliant with Trust policies.
* Data Management: Oversee data collection and performance monitoring to meet national cancer targets and prevent breaches.
* Service Improvement: Collaborate on policy development, peer reviews, and service improvement initiatives.
* Governance and Compliance: Implement effective systems for governance, risk management, and compliance with Trust policies and regulations.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will directly line manage a team of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Co-Ordinators/ Validators/ Trackers and Cancer Referral office (CRO) administrators and Cancer Psychological supports (CAPS) admin and any other as delegated by the service.
The primary responsibility of the postholder will be to provide direct leadership and support to the cancer admin team in organising and managing the members of staff, including providing support in the case of leave and ensuring that multi-disciplinary teams (MDMs) are run to a consistently high quality.
In addition, the post holder will support with the delivery of both National and Local targets, managing and coordinating the work of the MDT Admin team in terms of their contribution and provide management support for the Service Manager, Lead Cancer Nurse and Clinical Director.
Qualifications and Training
* 5 GCSE passes (C or above) or equivalent including Mathematics and English Language or equivalent
* Willing to undertake study to obtain a recognised management qualification
Experience
* 3 years relevant NHS experience or equivalent and 1 year management experience
Skills
* High level of IT skills to include experience of using MS office, including MS excel and databases.
* Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of Cancer Waiting Times (Going Further on Cancer Waits)
* Good understanding of work practices and procedures within an acute Trust which may impact on Cancer Services
* Knowledge of other national waiting time targets and initiatives e.g. 18 Weeks, Choose and Book
Other
* Excellent influencing and negotiation skills to introduce new ways of working to clinicians and managers
* Able to communicate with tact and sensitivity where appropriate
