Kallar Lodge is a residential care home owned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham with a relaxing and friendly atmosphere to help make our residents feel as comfortable and at home as possible. Providing support to adults over the age of 65 and specialising in caring for people living with Dementia, there are 44 spacious bedrooms across three floors, all with an en-suite facility. There are large communal areas including lounges, dining rooms and the lake room where residents can enjoy afternoon teas, activities and an amazing view over the lake. Kallar Lodge is surrounded by gardens to the rear and side; it also has two internal courtyard areas including a Bird Aviary. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team as a Laundry Assistant, supporting the essential laundry operations within our residential care home. You will be responsible for working alongside the team to ensure that all laundry, including residents’ clothing, bedding, and towels, is cleaned, dried, and returned in a timely and hygienic manner. This role plays a vital part in maintaining high standards of infection control and ensuring residents’ comfort and dignity. This is a part-time position, working 5 hours per day, 5 shifts per week, including alternate weekends. The regular shift pattern will be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the service.

About you
As a Laundry Assistant, you will need to have a genuine caring attitude and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all aspects of the laundry service within the home. You will be responsible for ensuring residents’ clothing, bedding, and other items are laundered efficiently and respectfully, supporting their comfort and dignity. You will be flexible, hardworking, possess effective communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team, with compassion and a strong drive for excellence at all times. While previous experience in a laundry or care environment is desirable, it is not essential, as full training and support will be provided. We are looking for individuals who share our values and commitment to high-quality care, as outlined in the person specification of the job description.
