Job Summary:
A Gift Shop Assistant serves customers in a store and assists them with completing their purchases. They also help out in the store by ensuring the smooth running and proper maintenance of the sales floor, under the supervision of a Shop Manager. They identify the needs of customers and make suitable recommendations, increasing sales in the store.
A Shop Assistant ensures that shelves are properly stocked, keep an eye on customers to prevent shoplifting and any damage to goods, and helps process refunds and exchanges.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the customers throughout their visit, from entering the shop to completing their purchase
* Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
* Stock shelves and ensure products are properly displayed
* Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently
* Complete all company paperwork, including cashing up and banking procedures
* Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner
* Assist with inventory management and restocking of merchandise
* Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets
* Travel to other shops if part of a cluster from time to time
· Support the Shop Manager in all aspects of best practice and Health and Safety Procedures
· Be responsible for the daily running of the shop in the Managers absence
· Ensure that personal behaviour reflects the visions and values of the company
Experience:
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service role is preferred
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a tidy shop and manage inventory
- Knowledge of phone etiquette for answering customer calls and inquiries
- Fluent in English, multilingual or bilingual skills are a plus
- Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Upselling skills to promote additional products or services to customers
Hours:
* This is a consultancy agreement
* You will be required to work a minimum of 10 hours a week
* Shifts operate between 07:00 am -12:00 pm and 17:00 - 22:00 Monday to Sunday
* Overtime hours might be available outside of the set working timings.
