Job description
Our client, a leading provider of engineering solutions to the power and utilities sector, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver Primary and Grid Substation projects for a DNO framework.
This role will oversee the full lifecycle of substation build and refurbishment works, ensuring delivery to time, cost, quality, and safety standards. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, commercial awareness, and strong stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, manage, and deliver substation projects from inception to completion.
2. Coordinate with design, procurement, and site teams to achieve project objectives.
3. Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
4. Manage project budgets, forecasts, and commercial activities in collaboration with the commercial team.
5. Act as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication.
6. Lead and motivate project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
7. Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect project delivery.
8. Conduct quality checks and ensure all works meet technical specifications.
Requirements:
9. Degree in construction management, engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
10. Proven track record in managing HV distribution network projects, ideally within substations.
11. Experience overseeing both civil and electrical works.
12. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
13. Proficient in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
14. Commercially astute with experience in budget and contract management.
15. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
Benefits:
16. £60,000-£70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
17. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
