Job Summary
Corporate Finance is recruiting for an Assistant Finance Analyst/Finance Analyst to complement our Financial Planning Team (Band 6/7 depending on qualification status and experience). As part of a central team you will provide comprehensive analytical support to Finance Business Partners, Finance Managers and other internal and external stakeholders. Your role will involve cost modelling, reporting, establishment costing, budget build, commissioning, pricing and presenting financial data and advice.
Main Duties
* Present financial data, provide specialist training and expert advice to finance and non‑finance stakeholders, and develop, maintain and support systems integral to key business processes.
* Provide high‑level financial advice to both financial and non‑financial managers up to senior officers and managers of external organisations.
* Maintain and deliver the establishment costing model, the B&S costing model(s) and adopt Activity Based Costing methodology; support the Budget Build.
* Respond to freedom of information requests, DH data requests and ad‑hoc information.
* Review existing frameworks and implement improvement plans to support financial resources.
* Develop and deliver systems frameworks to support business case development; develop key reports such as activity benchmark information and incorporate expenditure across service lines.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
* Band 6: Post‑graduate accountancy diploma (e.g. CCAB) or equivalent experience.
* Commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
* Band 7: Qualified Accountant with post‑qualification experience or relevant experience.
* Evidence of continued professional and personal development.
Experience (Essential)
* Band 6: Experience of financial management within a large, multi‑disciplined organisation.
* Competent user of recognised business software packages.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office packages: Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
* Experience of using an integrated financial / general ledger system, performance management tools and costing software.
* Experience of Oracle, Business Objects, SAS ABM and SAS Enterprise Guide.
* Band 7: Significant experience of financial management and financial modelling within a large, multi‑disciplined organisation.
* Experience supporting the development of business cases using investment appraisal techniques.
* Advanced user of recognised business software packages.
* Knowledge and understanding of the general NHS environment and NHS finance policies.
