To lead day-to-day operations at REL Davian so that services are allocated, compliant and delivered safely, on time and to specification. You will supervise allocations, drivers and control-room activity; coordinate with Engineering and Compliance; and act as a first point of contact for customers and schools during live operations.

Key responsibilities

* Build and maintain two-week rolling allocations for vehicles and drivers; publish daily sheets and briefings.
* Load bookings, routes, timings and customer requirements into Coach Manager and keep them current.
* Cover absences at short notice using spare cover, overtime or approved agency, within budget and policy.
* Monitor live running; manage incidents, delays and diversions; issue timely customer updates.
* Lead, brief and support drivers at depot; set clear standards for professionalism and customer care.
* Plan and record route/contract inductions and familiarisations; oversee issue of duty packs and risk assessments.
* Complete return-to-work meetings and first-line performance conversations; escalate where needed.

Compliance & safety

* Ensure Drivers’ Hours, WTD and tachograph rules are followed.
* Oversee defect reporting and daily walk-around checks; liaise with Engineering on VOR, PMIs and safety recalls.
* Maintain route risk assessments, lift/PSVAR checks and safeguarding controls for school services.
* Be an operations contact for schools, corporate clients and event partners; handle day-of-service comms.
* Log, investigate and draft factual responses on service failures and complaints, proposing corrective actions.
* Support pricing/quotes with workable duty plans and realistic resource assumptions.

Cost & performance control

* Track overtime, agency and dead-running; complete payroll with clear basic vs overtime splits.
* Monitor KPIs: On time pick up, vehicle reliability, customer feedback.
* Contribute ideas to improve vehicle utilisation, scheduling and engineering coordination.

Systems & reporting

* Use Coach Manager for bookings/allocations; Gmail for comms and reporting.
* Use tacho analysis tools to review driving standards, idling and infringements; brief trends.
* Produce daily and weekly ops summaries for the General Manager.

Skills & experience

* Proven experience in a bus/coach control room, allocations, or traffic office role.
* Strong understanding of Drivers’ Hours, WTD, DVSA compliance and safety management.
* Confident using allocations/booking software (e.g., Coach Manager) and MS Excel/Teams/SharePoint.
* Calm under pressure with clear, professional communication (phone, email and driver briefings).
* Able to prioritise and solve problems quickly; full UK driving licence.
* PCV Category D licence (or willingness to progress towards it).
* Experience supervising drivers in a multi-depot environment.
* Familiarity with tachograph analysis and telematics platforms.
* Participation in a fair on-call/incident rota to support live operations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
