If you do then the Surgical Directorate is currently looking for Health Care Support Worker for an exciting role on Ward 16 Our focus is on providing safe and exceptionally skilled surgical care to our patients. We focus heavily on training, education, staff support and development; alongside collaborative working with our Consultants and other professionals. PLEASE NOTE WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS POSITION Interview date: 2nd January Main duties of the job To work as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting with patient care and other departmental-related duties as directed by a Registered Nurse to ensure kind, safe, and compassionate care for patients. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The roles and responsibilities of a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) include (but not limited to): Making sure patients are comfortable Helping patients move around Washing and dressing patients Taking basic observations and updating patient records Keeping departments tidy and ensuring equipment is clean Serving meals and helping patients eat Administering medication to patients Collecting, storing, and labeling biological specimens Keeping hospital supplies properly stocked and organized Working closely with other healthcare professionals such as nurses, physicians, and therapists in order to provide patients with exceptional careSupport workers may also provide physical and emotional support, encourage and support the development of personal skills, and help with household tasks Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification/ willingness to work Desirable criteria GCSE Or equivalent in Maths and English Personal attributes Essential criteria enthusiastic caring attitude, good time management, able to deal with the demands of a rapidly developing service Desirable criteria must be a team player, able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and discretion Technical Skills and Responsibilities Essential criteria Understanding of basic physiology e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements etc. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as on own initiative Desirable criteria Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team Experience Essential criteria Ability to adapt and learn in a health care environment Desirable criteria Previous experience of working within a care environment/NHS Knowledge Essential criteria An understanding around basic patient care Desirable criteria Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation
