Your main role purpose will be to engage with Autistic children and young people (pre and post diagnosis) on site with Primary & Secondary School-aged children and young people both during and out of term time, along with support for parents and carers. You will offer specialised, targeted one to one and group based support, workshops and presentations, and provide line management for one of the team. Overview of Role: This role sits within the A for Autism Service, with lead responsibilities, line management of one staff member and a lead role in the partnership working with schools and colleges, and local partner agencies and services. Key Accountabilities: To lead specialised, targeted support sessions and interventions with children, young people and parents/carers through a range of one to one, group, and workshop based activities designed for both pre and post Autism diagnosis To build and develop strong partnerships with schools, colleges, partner agencies and services within the Croydon Borough To refer on and signpost children and families to other services supporting Autistic children, young people and families to ensure a holistic approach To work alongside the Interim Director of Services and Impact to ensure the strategic vision for the service is delivered to the highest standards of quality To support the A for Autism CYP Participation and Co-Production Group To support the measurement of the reach, impact, and evaluation of the service To provide effective, supportive and collaborative line management To ensure inclusivity and accessibility of the service, working with a trauma informed approach, creating psychologically informed environments, working within our EDI Framework Main Duties and Responsibilities of the role: Develop person centred working relationships with individuals, utilising Autism specific approaches and interventions such as the SPELL Framework to ensure that the service meets the individual needs of those accessing the A for Autism Service (training provided) enabling wellbeing and higher levels of engagement / interaction Delivering expertise in supporting Autistic children and young people, their parents/carers, families and educators as a holistic approach to community based support Complete appropriate and accurate initial assessments for the those referred to or self-referring to the A for Autism Service To work in line with Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures and the management of safeguarding concerns in accordance with CDI policies and good practice guidelines, and within the current legislative guidance and frameworks To support the A for Autism Children and Young Peoples Participation and CoProduction group, ensuring that CYP voice is at the heart of the service Complete risk assessments for individuals and planned activities to ensure children, young people and families are best supported and are able to access the full range of support services they need To hold a caseload of children and young people for one to one support, or a rolling programme of delivery in schools Using evidence-based skills, under supervisory support, of working in partnership with children, young people, their families and educators in the development of plans for specific interventions and within agreed outcomes Lead on the design and development of service materials, session plans and resources for the service To act as the primary point of contact for Schools with regards to operational delivery of on-site services To work collaboratively with the range of services CDI delivers, working closely with the MHST and Schools Counselling Managers, alongside the Therapeutic Services Manager and Outreach Manager To support targeted activities delivered within the TalkBus schedule To attend the specialist training provision for the service To actively encourage and support meaningful activities both within the service and outside of the service, inclusive of support to engage in education, support with understanding own feelings and emotions, socialising, life skills, communication, food and nutrition, accessing leisure activities and arts and crafts Accompany individuals at appointments where appropriate such as interviews for college, or appointments with the School SENCO/SENDCO Where appropriate, attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals or children and young people. To contribute to quarterly and annual reporting on the work and to contribute to other methods of feedback as required by the charity, our commissioners and our funders Enabling children and young people in education, and where appropriate parents/carers, to collaborate and co-produce their own agreed plan of care Understand the importance of an individuals support plan and daily strategies, using this effectively and professionally to support their needs and track progress against any goals they wish to achieve Maintain accurate records, case notes and onward referral forms in line with CDI policy, Data Protection and GDPR requirements Engage in robust managerial and reflective practice supervision, identifying the scope of practice within the role and working safely within that To provide advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals and contribute to multi-agency risk management and intervention-planning Ensure that work is aligned with Local and National Strategies and support with the development of the Croydon Autism Partnership Board Quality and Governance To ensure all practitioners are confident in the use of ROMS and that all data is recorded in an efficient and timely manner To develop and maintain good relationships with all appropriate stakeholders To participate in staff Learning & Development programmes and Staff Away Days To participate in the development and auditing of service standards To keep up to date with local & national practice developments, national guidelines, legal updates and relevant research Participate in individual performance review and ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisor and senior colleagues on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development. Maintain up-to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures specific and relevant to Autistic children and young people General This Job Description is not an exhaustive list of duties and may be reviewed in conjunction with the post holder in light of service development. Due to the nature of this work some evening and weekend work is required3) Any potential conflict of interest must be declared with your line manager. The post holder will identify their own Continuing Professional and Personal Development needs and attend appropriate training as agreed with Line Manager It is the responsibility of all staff to minimise CDIs environmental impact by recycling wherever possible, switching off lights, computer monitors and equipment when not in use, minimising water wastage and reporting faults promptly We operate a no smoking policy, including Vapes, on our sites and in any education and community based settings where the post holder may be working
