Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) for Urology is accountable to the General Manager. The purpose of the AGM is to take lead responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of all operational issues within a defined clinical service area or areas and to lead service improvement. The AGM will ensure the effective delivery of services to patients in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards, controls and resource constraints. The AGM will be expected to support the General Manager in the delivery of Trust objectives and ensuring national targets are achieved. This is a cross‑site position which will require presence at Denmark Hill, the Princess Royal University Hospital, and Beckenham Beacon.
Main Duties
* Provide timely, efficient and effective operational management leadership for the Urology care group at King's College Hospital.
* Work with lead clinicians and key stakeholders to ensure services are responsive, innovative and delivered to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
* Problem‑solve and develop and implement lasting solutions in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues.
* Represent the General Manager at the site(s), acting with delegated authority to resolve daily issues.
* Ensure the needs of the care group’s services at the site are assessed and conveyed to the care group leadership team.
* Support the Clinical Director and General Manager with the development and delivery of a strategic vision, ensuring service changes meet internal and external expectations and standards.
* Lead projects to improve service delivery and patient experience, and oversee governance and patient safety activities within Urology services across multiple sites.
* Develop action plans to address underperformance and report progress to the care group triumvirate.

Job Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day operational management of the service area, linking with clinical and multi‑disciplinary staff.
* Establish and build agreements within the team to ensure delivery of services.

Person Specification
Essential – Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
* Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
* Operational experience managing complex services, including design, development, implementation and change in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
* Evidence of managing successful projects and/or operational performance and improvement.
* Understanding of HR processes and experience of staff management.
* Experience of managing complex budgets and demonstrable evidence of individual, team, financial, process and change management.

* Advanced analytical and judgement skills.
