We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Safety Business Partner to join our Safety team.
The Senior Safety Business Partner - Construction is responsible for implementing and overseeing APAC’s Safety Management processes specifically within construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to embed a safety-first culture, manage high-risk construction activities, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards. The role is essential to driving safety excellence and risk mitigation in construction environments.

Key responsibilities:
1. Lead and provide expert guidance on construction safety practices across all APAC construction projects.
2. Serve as a trusted safety advisor to project managers, ensuring safety principles are embedded at every stage of construction.
3. Ensure controls and mitigation strategies are implemented and regularly reviewed to minimise hazards.
4. Apply Safety in Design principles to construction projects, collaborating with engineers and designers to proactively address safety risks from planning through execution.
5. Ensure incidents are reported, investigated, and documented, using recognised methods (e.g., root cause analysis techniques, ICAM).
6. Compile and analyse safety data, prepare reports on incident trends, and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership.
7. Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to promote a consistent, proactive safety approach.
8. Provide guidance and support to Safety Business Partners, fostering their safety leadership development.
9. Support the Senior Manager, Safety, to ensure APAC complies with Victorian and Commonwealth OHS legislative requirements.
10. Oversee compliance with safety legislation and standards, including scheduling and conducting audits with external auditors.
11. Support safety inspections across construction projects.
12. Analyze safety data specific to construction, identify trends, and recommend continuous safety improvements.
Qualifications and experience:
* Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Construction Safety, or a related field.
* Several years of experience in a senior OHS role, with at least 3 years focused on construction safety in high-risk environments.
* Accreditation in Root Cause Analysis (e.g., ICAM or TapRoot) is desirable.
* Expertise in Safety in Design and construction risk management, especially in large-scale projects.
* Experience working with diverse construction teams, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and site personnel.
* Ability to operate autonomously and engage stakeholders effectively in a dynamic environment.
* Experience in incident investigations, safety data analysis, and reporting.
