We are seeking a friendly, professional, and efficient Receptionist to join our busy GP surgery on a part-time basis of 25 hours per week for 6 months, with potential for extension after review. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a crucial role in delivering excellent patient care by providing administrative support, managing appointments, and handling enquiries. You will work as part of a dedicated team to ensure the smooth running of the practice while maintaining a welcoming and professional environment.
Main duties of the job
1. Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone in a courteous and professional manner.
2. Manage appointment bookings, cancellations, and rescheduling using the practice system.
3. Handle patient enquiries, providing accurate information and directing them to the appropriate healthcare professional.
4. Process repeat prescriptions and liaise with pharmacies as required.
5. Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information in line with GDPR and practice policies.
6. Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and updating patient records.
7. Support clinicians and other staff members.
8. Ensure that the reception area is tidy, organised, and welcoming.
9. Follow health and safety guidelines and adhere to infection control procedures.

Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Health Care Support Workers, and a Pharmacist. We are a training practice and often support Registrars and medical students. We have a dedicated administrative team, led by the Practice Manager.

Qualifications
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.

* Competent IT skills including the ability to learn new software systems.

* Previous experience in a customer service or administrative role.
* Experience in a healthcare or GP surgery setting.
* Knowledge of healthcare systems such as Vision and EMIS.
* Understanding of medical terminology.
