About the Role
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our children's residential home in Birmingham. The home provides care and support for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and other complex needs.
As Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and development for the children, while supporting and motivating a team of residential support workers.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the home.
* Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
* Lead, supervise, and develop staff, ensuring a positive and supportive working environment.
* Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
* Promote the welfare, safety, and independence of all children in the home.
* Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Support with recruitment, training, and ongoing staff development.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with children, families, professionals, and external agencies.
* Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and administration in line with policies and procedures.
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a children's residential setting (minimum 2 years).
* Experience in a supervisory or senior role within a residential childcare environment.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare – or willingness to work towards.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory standards.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends.
* Full UK driving licence – desirable.
