A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Algorithm Engineer to join a department working on advanced defence systems.
This role performs the duties of algorithm design, system analysis, and verification, and reports to the senior engineering leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop expertise in both detailed design and higher architectural levels.
* Influence the current and future direction for design and testing of complex systems.
* Work with specialist algorithms, real-time architecture, and complex equipment including RF & IR seekers, inertial sensors, actuators, propulsion (turbojets, ramjets, and thrust-vectored rockets).
* Collaborate across departments, directorates, and national boundaries on multiple programmes at various stages of their lifecycle.
* Contribute from early research and concept stages through to full-scale development and guided flight trials.
The ideal candidate would have:
* Extensive experience in aerospace control specification, analysis, algorithm design & implementation, real-time architecture, and verification.
* Ability to define and manage complex engineering problems, ensuring clear and unambiguous design requirements/objectives.
* Experience in managing complexity by identifying major drivers in a large, interconnected engineering system.
* The ability to cross-verify complex systems and system models against underlying theory.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or conceptually difficult ideas clearly.
* Experience diagnosing abnormalities in engineering systems using both physical and virtual modelling and simulation tools (e.g., Matlab & Simulink).
The ideal candidate must have:
* Theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience in aerospace control applications, preferably in flight control systems.
* Experience in influencing technical decisions, even when other factors are driving teams.
* A keen interest in the technical aspects of complex systems.
