About the team\nOur Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) team work closely with all functions in Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) and partner agency Scottish Forestry (SF). Providing suitable Vehicle, Machinery and Equipment (VME) that is fit for purpose to meet tasks/job requirements, ensuring good quality and best value for money. \n\n What you will do\nAs an apprentice youâll be trained to deliver a high quality vehicle machinery and equipment supply, repair and maintenance service. \n\nYou will work alongside skilled technicians and attend college to help you become a highly trained and qualified mechanical automotive engineer with a strong awareness of related health and safety issues. \n\nMain Duties\nâ¢\tYou will assist Mechanical Engineering colleagues with servicing and repairs on equipment such as chainsaws, quad bikes, cars and vans - all the way up to large \n harvesting and civil engineering machines, whilst observing best work practices and developing and maintaining skills in all aspects of repair, service and maintenance \n of vehicles, machinery and equipment;\nâ¢\tComplete modern apprenticeship framework qualifications through yearly six x 1 week college block attendance for three years. Accommodation will be provided if \n required. In addition, you will be assessed in the workplace against industry national standards by a qualified Assessor to prove your competence.\nâ¢\tAttend internal and external FLS training courses/events;\nâ¢\tMaintain a clean and safe work environment;\nâ¢\tBe responsible for the safety of yourself and others, using personal protective equipment when required;\nâ¢\tTo ensure all internal procedures are followed effectively;\nâ¢\tActively develop and maintain a thorough and current product knowledge;\nâ¢\tTo ensure a consistently high quality of work, whether that be in the workshop or at College;\nâ¢\tAssistance with any other tasks as directed Experience \n\nEssential:\nâ¢\tAn interest in Engineering\nâ¢\tGood communication skills\nâ¢\tWorks well as part of a team\nâ¢\tGood problem solving skills\nâ¢\tGood time management skills with the ability to prioritise work\nâ¢\tIT literate\nDesirable:\nâ¢\tExperience of working in a Mechanical Engineering workshop\nâ¢\tExperience and knowledge of applying Health and Safety considerations\n\nTechnical \n\nEssential:\nâ¢\tNational 4 in English (or equivalent level qualification)\nâ¢\tNational 4 in Maths (or equivalent level qualification)\nâ¢\t1 x other National 4 (or equivalent level qualification)\nDesirable:\nâ¢\tNational 5 in English (or equivalent level qualification)\nâ¢\tNational 5 in Maths (or equivalent level qualification)\nâ¢\tFoundation apprenticeship qualification in Engineering\n\n
