The Role
As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a multi-skilled engineering function, driving performance, and ensuring assets and systems operate to the highest standards. You will play a strategic role in managing complex food manufacturing operations, optimising efficiency, and delivering continuous improvement across the site. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, youll also play a key role within the site leadership team.
Engineering Manager Key Responsibilities:
Lead the engineering team, setting strategy and driving asset performance across a high-care food manufacturing facility.
Champion SHE compliance within the engineering function and support best practice across the wider business.
Develop and implement asset strategies to maximise operational efficiency and reliability.
Oversee the installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of food production assets.
Use data and analytics to assess asset condition, performance, failures, and risks.
Implement preventative and reactive maintenance strategies to minimise downtime.
Drive engineering-led continuous improvement programmes, delivering cost-effective solutions.
Manage capital projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to budget.
Maintain accurate engineering and site services cost plans, forecasts, and expenditure reports.
Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and development for the engineering team.
Qualifications & Skills:
Engineering Apprenticeship and/or Technical Qualification (Level 3 or above).
IET Wiring Regulations (current edition).
IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of SHE legislation and compliance.
Experience developing asset life-cycle plans, maintenance strategies, and business cases.
Proven ability to lead engineering teams in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Multi-skilled knowledge across mechanical and/or electrical engineering (PLC control, automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, thermodynamics).
Minimum 3 years experience in a senior engineering role within FMCG.
