Salary range: £44,500 to £59,500 per annum
Location: Gloucester or Glasgow (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home)

About the Role
The Energy Business Unit is a vibrant and growing area with a focus on delivery of high-quality expertise and services across multiple energy sectors and development of staff and tools to operate within highly regulated industries. In particular, the Energy Assurance technical area provides significant support to our Civil Nuclear business area deploying engineering, project management, and safety case skills across Decommissioning, Fusion, Generation, and New Build areas. It is an exciting time across all of these sectors, but we are particularly prioritizing the growth and development of our Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management group.
Frazer-Nash Consultancy are looking to bolster our team with talented individuals to continue to develop our service delivery and increase our support to the nuclear decommissioning market providing services in nuclear clean-up and waste management. Our Nuclear Decommissioning groups work on a wide range of projects for clients across our Nuclear Decommissioning sector.
As such, we are looking for talented engineers with experience/knowledge of:
1. Nuclear Decommissioning – techniques/engineering challenges/safety considerations
2. Waste Management – Characterization/treatment/packaging/transport/safety
3. Nuclear engineering and technology
We are looking for senior grade individuals with relevant experience in nuclear decommissioning and waste management with a background in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical or Process, and/or Chemists and Physicists with a nuclear decommissioning or waste management/storage background.
Requirements
Successful applicants will need to meet the following requirements:
1. Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Maths (or equivalent)
2. Extensive Nuclear Engineering experience, preferably within the nuclear decommissioning sector
3. Demonstrable experience of working in a nuclear decommissioning or waste management role
4. Be Chartered in their discipline (or working towards Chartership)
5. Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team
6. Excellent communication and organizational skills
It is to your advantage if you meet any of the following additional requirements:
* For Senior Decommissioning Engineering roles, we are looking for engineers with experience in any of the following areas:
* Nuclear Site Defueling/Decommissioning Strategies, planning, and safety case
* Nuclear Decommissioning Techniques
* Decommissioning R&D
* Waste retrieval and characterization techniques
* Packaging and disposition including Asbestos, Metals, and concrete
* Waste Submission development (for SLCs); Disposability Assessment (for NWS)
* RAM Storage/Transport Containers
* Asset Monitoring and Inspection Programmes
* Experience with the ONR/EA, especially on de-licensing
The ability to lead projects and develop junior engineers.
The ability to build relationships both externally with our client and regulators and internally with our delivery teams and support functions.
An understanding of the current nuclear decommissioning market demands and the key clients.
The ability to identify and support business development opportunities - including the preparation of estimates, proposals, budgets, and documentation.
Being honorable, trustworthy, fair, and honest – respecting confidentiality.
Experience of delivery within fast-paced/high-intensity programs of work.
Demonstrated leadership of technical teams and programs of work.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer-Nash Consultancy undertake, candidates will be required to undergo pre-employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
