Apprentice Teaching Assistant £7.55 per hour Temporary – required from 02/09/2025 until completion of Apprenticeship (approximately 18 month) 37 hours per week, Term Time Only 2 Weeks St. John’s C of E (Aided) Primary School are looking for a Apprentice Teaching Assistant to work at our popular school. We are looking for an apprenticeship who has passion for working within early years. They need to have good communication skills, ICT experience and are flexible, reliable and hardworking. The post involves primarily working in the EYFS class, supporting small group and 1 to 1 work under the supervision of the teaching staff. The job entails: • Assist pupils with eating, dressing and hygiene, as requested, whilst encouraging independence • Support pupils in developing and implementing their own personal and social development • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording student progress/activities • Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate • Work with pupils with special educational needs • Support the work of volunteers and other teaching assistants in the classroom • Assist in escorting and supervising pupils on educational visits and out of day activities • Select, prepare and clear away classroom materials and learning areas ensuing they are available for use, including developing and presenting displays • Attending meetings, briefings and CPD as required to secure effective team working relationships and the development of skills • Participate in before and after school clubs Closing date: Thursday 26th June 2025 at 12 noon Interview date: Wednesday 2nd July 2025 Please return completed applications to the school We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, if successful, you will need to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure. Calculation of term time only plus two weeks’ pay Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following: • Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus • Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus • Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus • Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days) Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave.
