Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months Maternity Cover)
Location: This hybrid role can be based out of our Edinburgh or London offices with time spent both in the office and at home.

Salary and benefits: Up to £74,900k DOE plus an indicative bonus range of 16-32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role
The Sustainability Manager will play a crucial role in advancing Standard Life’s social sustainability work. Reporting to the Head of Social Sustainability within the Group Sustainability Team. A key focus of the role will be the delivery of our Caring for Carers social impact programme and managing relationships with our charity partners. Alongside this, the role will contribute to wider social sustainability priorities, including human rights, financial wellbeing, modern slavery, just transition and social impact.
What You Will Do
Programme delivery & partnership development
* Lead the delivery and ongoing development of the Caring for Carers programme
* Support new sustainability initiatives across human rights, financial wellbeing, modern slavery and just transition.
* Ensure delivery plans are clear, coordinated and embedded across the business.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, charity partners and community organisations
* Represent Standard Life at external events, networks and partnerships, acting as an advocate for our social sustainability agenda.
Governance and Reporting
* Oversee governance of community investment, ensuring alignment with policy, strategy and expectations.
* Prepare papers, briefings and updates for internal committees and stakeholders.
* Develop and track metrics to measure partnership and community investment impact.
Horizon scanning and thought leadership
Contribute to external initiatives and thought leadership in social sustainability.
Identify emerging risks, opportunities and partnership models relevant to our priorities.
What are we looking for?
* Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, with experience influencing across teams and working effectively with external partners, charities and community organisations.
* Proactive programme and partnership delivery, with the ability to manage and grow initiatives such as Caring for Carers while supporting wider social sustainability work.
* Strong organisational and governance skills, including experience managing project plans, budgets, KPIs and community investment processes.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and tailor messages for different audiences.
* A solid understanding of social sustainability, with experience in social impact or community partnership roles. Experience in areas such as human rights, financial wellbeing, modern slavery, just transition or wider social impact is desirable but not essential.
