United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme
Full-time | Global travel | High-pressure performance role
If you’re a performance engineer who lives for data, clarity, correlation and precision — and you want to operate at the absolute pinnacle of endurance racing — this is your opportunity.
About the Role
As a Performance Engineer, you’ll own the data-driven performance function for the McLaren Hypercar. You’ll be responsible for extracting clarity from complex datasets, shaping setup direction, supporting the Race Engineer, and driving performance improvements across the season.
This is a role for a highly analytical, structured thinker who can remain calm and decisive under pressure, and who can bridge data, driver feedback and engineering execution.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading post-run and post-session data analysis across all major vehicle performance channels.
* Producing overlays, trends, correlations and actionable insights for Race Engineering.
* Supporting setup direction, balance management, tyre behaviour, aero balance and mechanical optimisation.
* Working closely with the Race Engineer to deliver session planning, run plans and tactical decisions.
* Supporting simulation, model correlation and parameter updates.
* Monitoring the car live during sessions and identifying anomalies or performance opportunities.
* Producing high-quality engineering documentation, reports and debrief content.
* Collaborating with Tyre Techs, Strategists, Systems Engineers and Reliability teams to ensure holistic performance control.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong experience in performance engineering within high-level motorsport (WEC, ELMS, GT, F1, FE or similar).
* Expertise with data tools (ATLAS, Wintax, MATLAB/Python or equivalent).
* Clear understanding of vehicle dynamics and performance fundamentals.
* High attention to detail, accuracy and engineering discipline.
* Ability to communicate complex insights concisely to drivers and team members.
* Calm, structured thinking during high-pressure trackside decision-making.
If you’re serious about top-tier performance engineering, this is your stage.
