Job Summary
Provide informational and instructional services to faculty, students and other library users. Coordinate individual and group reference services and on-line and in-person instruction, supervise reference services assistants, and assist with collection development.
Responsibilities
Outreach and Instruction –
Provide on-campus outreach and promotion of library programs to faculty and other departments.
Provide library orientation programs and tours, bibliographic and information literacy instruction through on-site, classroom, and distance delivery interactions.
Reference Services –
Provide informal reference/research assistance in person and virtually as well as formal group and classroom-embedded librarian assistance.
Research Guides and Tutorials –
Create electronic instructional tutorials, informational LibGuides, and other support materials and assist with the creation of library displays, bulletin boards, signage, and other promotional materials.
Collection Development –
Assist with collection assessment and development recommending materials for addition and de-selection and assist with collection inventories.
Administrative and Departmental Support –
Serve at circulation desk, open and close the library facility, monitor the public areas for activity and acceptable conduct on occasion, and assist patrons with printers and other equipment.
Compile statistics of patron and classroom interactions; conduct user feedback surveys and evaluations; and assist with collecting and compiling data for reports required by the college, and other state, federal, and professional organizations.
Supervision –
Provide supervision, training and evaluation of reference services assistant(s) and other library personnel.
Activities and Training –
Attend professional meetings and training and serve on college and USG library-related committees
Participate in library and campus events and activities.
Perform Other Duties –
Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
MLS from an ALA-accredited institution.
Other Required Qualifications
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Required Experience
Experience with automated library systems
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
One-year experience in library reference and/or instruction in an academic library.
Experience developing online learning objects, tutorials, videos using multimedia software. Supervisory experience.
Proposed Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of library procedures, methods, and techniques. Knowledge of automated library systems and applications.
SKILLS
Excellent customer service skills.
Proficient in the use of computers and computer software to include word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation, and graphic programs.
