Job Description
This contract role for the A380 project is based on the Early shift, operating from 06:00-14:15 (Monday-Thursday) and 06:00-12:00 (Friday).\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nReport directly to the section Flow Leader, working within a team alongside functional specialists such as engineering and quality to ensure production requirements are met safely and on time.\nPerform metallic to composite assembly, ensuring precision and proper technique for each material type.\nExecute fitting tasks using hand tools to ensure proper assembly and alignment of components, including close tolerance hand fitting.\nOperate nut runners and torque wrenches to tighten fasteners to the specified torque values, ensuring correct assembly and avoiding damage.\nUtilise DTI (Dial Test Indicator) measuring equipment to accurately assess alignment and tolerance levels of parts.\nRead and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and detailed instructions to ensure correct assembly.\nWork with materials to measure, mark out, and fit parts with precision, including precision drilling, countersink, reaming, and finishing holes in aircraft structure assemblies.\nApply assembly techniques such as riveting, mechanical fasteners, and bonding processes.\nUse sealing and jointing techniques to protect the assembly from environmental factors and apply finishes such as Alocrom.\nPerform bush and bearing installations and mark parts for identification on aircraft sub-assemblies.\nAssemble pipework, perform alignment checks, pressure testing, electrical bonding, and other functional tests.\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nNVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing, or a time-served apprenticeship in allied trades.\nCompetence in fitting using hand tools, nut runners, torque wrenches, and DTI measuring equipment.\nProficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and work instructions.\nNumeracy, literacy, and IT skills, with the ability to understand technical documentation via PC/IT equipment.\nAbility to work to standard times in a fast-moving assembly line, demonstrating speed and precision without sacrificing quality.\nStrong planning and problem-solving skills.\nWorking knowledge of 5S and lean principles.\nStrong work ethic with a positive attitude to succeed.\nExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.\nAttention to detail and accuracy.\nProven ability to actively participate in a team culture and work with minimal supervision.\n\nDesirable Qualifications & Experience:\n\nPrevious experience in manufacturing complex metallic and composite structures.\n\nSecurity Clearance:\n\nBaseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance is required and must be maintained for this role.
