The position is part of the interdisciplinary MICRO-PATH Doctoral Training Unit supported by the Luxembourg National Research Fund.

About the Project

This doctoral research investigates how antibiotic resistance genes circulate within the gut microbiome and contribute to antimicrobial resistance spread. The project will explore bacteriophage-mediated gene transfer, horizontal gene exchange, and environmental transmission risks associated with dysbiotic microbiomes. Candidates will integrate microbiology, molecular biology, and data-driven analysis to understand microbiome-driven disease mechanisms and environmental AMR dissemination.

* Supervised doctoral research within an international multidisciplinary consortium
* Transferable skills development including scientific writing, project management, and career training
* Participation in international conferences and outreach activities
* Scientific exchange placements ranging from short visits to multi-month collaborations
* Access to advanced research infrastructure and collaborative networks across Europe
