Registered Practitioner - Nurse or Operating
Evidence of working at a similar level or within a similar role Department Practitioner
Specialist knowledge of theatre procedures and/or instrumentation acquired through degree or diploma plus demonstrable competencies acquired through further study
Management qualification or demonstrable experience of team management
Holder of a teaching/training qualification or demonstrable experience
Experience
Ability to co-ordinate theatres effectively
Assess and authorise overtime, unsocial or salary payments for grades below Band 7 [surgical/anaesthetic staff groups]
Awareness of all policies relating to the environment and Trust where they relate to recruitment and selection, or performance management
Attendance of relevant in-house courses related to this role e.g. managing at Papworth
Evidence of managing a team [anaesthetic/surgical]
Maintenance of ongoing registration with the professional body
Ability to act in Departmental meetings for the Theatre Manager in their absence reporting back on issues of relevance
Regularly lead in trials of theatre equipment and consumables, which includes communicating with commercial companies, medical and theatre personnel
Take responsibility for the allocation of the departmental workload in the areas of anaesthetics/surgery
Be active in the decision making with regards to recruitment, selection and performance management of staff
Be instrumental in leading and managing change within the Department
Nights, weekends on calls
Be able to deal with sensitive and contentious issues in a calm professional manner
Ability to work powered hand tools
