The Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative R&D Engineer to join our Research Team in support of our technology advancement and diversification initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about prototype research, development, testing, validation, and continuous improvement within the field of electronics and electrical engineering. As an integral member of the team, you will play a key role in developing cutting-edge solutions, contributing to early-stage concept realisation, and supporting the evolution of new technologies from idea to implementation. Key Responsibilities Include: Research and Development : Conduct multi-disciplinary research activities focused on electrical and electronics modelling, simulation, and analysis to support the advancement of the company’s core intellectual property and product development. Engage in research and development activities related to enhancing sensor-based condition monitoring technologies. Execute proof of concept projects, including rapid prototyping, development, and testing to validate research findings and product concepts. Oversee the testing and refinement of prototypes to ensure they meet design specifications and performance criteria. Technical Collaboration : Participate in external technical collaborations including writing papers, attending conferences, and engaging with the academic community to share findings and learnings. Stay updated on the latest industry trends and research findings in electronics and electrical engineering to inform research directions and strategy. Internal Support and Integration : Support internal product and service delivery activities as required, ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies and solutions into our existing portfolio. Work closely with other departments and teams within the company to facilitate interdisciplinary projects and initiatives. What We Are Looking For: A master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field. Demonstrated capability to undertake independent research to solve complex problems, showing initiative and resourcefulness in finding solutions. Proficiency in relevant software and tools for electrical/electronics design and simulation (e.g., LTSPICE, Matlab, Altium, etc). Hands-on laboratory skills in soldering and wiring, with proficiency in using a wide range of lab equipment to support prototype design and development. Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python or C. A strong desire and ability to learn new technologies, methodologies, and concepts as required by the projects or as new challenges arise. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to contribute to technical papers and present findings at conferences. Desirable, but not essential: Experience in mechanical modelling and 3D printing. Experience in embedded software programming. Knowledge of reflectometry-based technologies (e.g. TDR, STDR, SSTDR, FDR etc.) Knowledge of communication or RF theories.
