Overview
Environmental Health Officer - 18.5 Hrs (Public Sector)– VANRATH are engaged to support the role of a part-time Environmental Health Officer for a well-established client within the local authority. This is initially a 6-month assignment with the possibility of extension.

* Ensure the department complies with statutory and legislative requirements, adhering to governance, best practice and health and safety requirements
* Undertake visits, inspections, investigations and initiate follow-up action, including servicing notices and issuing permits, licenses and approvals as defined within level of authorisation, in accordance with legislation, regulations, codes of practice, statutory guidance and departmental policies
* Investigate and resolve complaints and process enquiries within the designated functional area, meeting timescales and performance indicators
* Conduct sampling programmes and surveys, interpret and analyse results to ensure appropriate action is taken, including enforcement where necessary
* Assess and comment on Planning and Building Control applications and consultations, providing professional/technical advice on proposed design and layout of facilities and potential adverse environmental impacts
* Assist Head of Service and/or SEHO in preparation and submission of funding applications and monitoring returns for special projects within the remit
* Liaise with stakeholders, elected members, contractors and other Council departments, user groups and statutory agencies to promote areas of responsibility, meet service needs and ensure compliance with statutory regulations
Ideal Candidate
* Be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board or a qualification acceptable to the Board (e.g., Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health or a historical equivalent)
* Possess a full, current driving licence to drive in Northern Ireland and have access to a car for official business, or have suitable transport to meet the requirements of the post
* Have good literacy and written communication skills with the ability to produce reports and communicate effectively with the public and business owners
* Have a good understanding of environmental health issues
Remuneration
Circa £21.24 per hour, plus pension, holiday pay and discount benefits.
