Learning Support Assistant – Derbyshire

We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to deliver person centred support to individuals who present high levels of complex needs and challenging behaviours associated with learning disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions and mental health problems. You will be working with children and young people who need 1:1 support for multiple reasons, such as:
1. Children in Looked After Care
2. Anxiety
3. Exclusion
4. Speech and language difficulties
5. Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
The candidate must have:
6. Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
7. Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
8. The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles
9. Confidence to make decisions
10. Excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with the students
11. Empathy and understanding
12. Willingness to enhance skills with professional training and development
