Housing Assistant
Pay: £15.06 per hour, 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri
Location: 3x - Corby, NN17 4SW, Office based only.
1x - Kettering, NN16 8PP, Office based only.
Length: 10 weeks
Opus People Solutions are recruiting on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council for an experienced Housing Assistant to join their Housing Services department to provide support with a range of customer focused administrative tasks.
As Housing Assistant your typical duties may include:
1. Management of property tenancies and garage allocations lettings:
* Arranging signups and viewings with applicants
* Preparing and distributing documentation relating to garage licensees as well as the creation of new tenancies, voids tenancy changes, and mutual exchanges
* Updating the Housing IT system with any changes to tenancies and lettings as they occur
* Raising inspection requests and offers
1. Management of accounts and rechargeable repairs:
* Letter production, rent credit, adjustment and refund documents
* Raising requisitions and processing invoices
* Taking payments for accounts
1. Tenant Involvement and Engagement activities:
* Producing and organising the printing of materials, flyers and Agenda preparation
* Taking and typing up meeting notes/minutes in support of the Tenant Engagement Officers/Tenant Advisory Panel
1. Effective and inclusive customer service:
* Providing with advice, information or answers to queries that may raise at the first point of contact
* Maintaining accurate electronic and paper house files, case notes, letters and forms by filing, scanning and system updating
* Monitoring and recording of all post and e-mail correspondence, directing to the appropriate officer
We are looking for a clear communicator with a proactive, customer focused attitude, with experience of working in an office environment, ideally within Housing and carrying out a range of administrative tasks, effectively managing and prioritising own workload.
The perfect candidate will:
* Be a quick learner with strong organisational skills
* Collaborate well with others and be flexible in their approach to meet the demands of the post and team, working flexibly where necessary
* Be able to deal with confidential and sensitive information
* Be proficient in Microsoft package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
* Understand and be able to comply with the Council's policies and procedures
Desirable:
* Experience or knowledge of housing management practice and housing legislation
* Experience of working within a local authority housing department or registered social landlord or a similar role
* Hold or be studying for a relevant housing qualification (CIH Level 2 Diploma or equivalent), Membership of CIH.
