We\'re working with a respected public sector organisation to recruit a talented and hands-on Caterer / Cook Supervisor to join one of their Children\'s Homes. This is more than just a cooking job - it\'s a chance to create a warm, welcoming space for young people aged 11-18 and to lead the small catering team that makes that happen.
If you love cooking and care about the impact a good meal can have, this could be a truly rewarding next step.
What you\'ll be doing
* Planning and preparing meals that are healthy, tasty, and comforting.
* Supervising and supporting the Assistant Cook, helping them develop and maintain high standards.
* Managing stock, ordering supplies, and keeping an eye on budgets.
* Making sure the kitchen is spotless and all food safety and hygiene standards are followed.
* Helping to create a welcoming, homely environment for young residents.
* Taking part in general housekeeping duties to keep the home running smoothly.
What we\'re looking for
This role is ideal for someone with strong catering experience and a caring approach. You\'ll need:
* At least 1 year\'s experience as a cook in a commercial or healthcare setting and NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Catering (or equivalent), OR 3 years\' relevant experience.
* CIEH Level 2 Food Safety and Basic Food Hygiene qualifications.
* Strong organisational skills and an ability to lead by example.
* A warm, approachable personality and the ability to connect with young people.
* Knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, menu planning, and housekeeping.
It\'s even better if you have NVQ Level 3 in Catering, supervisory experience, or advanced food hygiene training - but these aren\'t essential.
In return, you\'ll join a dedicated team with excellent support, ongoing training opportunities, and flexible working options from day one.
