Overview
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate band 6 ward sister to work on our busy acute 24 bedded frailty ward. We are ideally seeking an individual with previous ward experience in an acute setting to support the Ward Manager. Previous management skills would help to make the transition smoother. We will be looking particularly for someone who has a passion regarding the care of acutely unwell elderly patients. The individual must be dynamic in their approach, a hard worker and provide continuous support to the Ward Manager and the rest of the team. Ensuring professionalism and high standards are achieved on the ward at all times, especially when the Ward Manager is off duty.
Responsibilities
* Provide professional support to the Ward Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward.
* Work with people with multiple health/social needs that are often complex.
* Delegate clinical nursing activities to appropriately skilled staff to ensure an efficient and effective service.
* Support the Ward Manager and deputize in the manager's absence.
* Maintain up-to-date mandatory training and evidence continued professional development.
* Demonstrate awareness of treating patients who have no capacity and take steps to protect vulnerable patients, including instigating safeguarding referrals as required.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings and feedback to the Ward Manager.
* Apply knowledge of Nursing Assessments/BIM and their implications for patient care and flow.
* Understand the significance of Datix reporting, carry out investigations, and implement changes following panels and recommendations.
* Assist the Ward Manager with implementation of Health Board policies, guidelines and procedures within the nursing team.
