We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our innovative, integrated Neurodiversity team. We welcome professionals interested in supporting our new pathway model.

The Neurodiversity Pathway is a developing integrated service within CFHD, providing specialist assessment and intervention for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD, Tics, and Tourette Syndrome.

This role offers the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with colleagues across pathways and with external agencies, including local paediatric teams and educational providers.

This position is based in our Torbay, South & West Devon locality.


Main duties of the job

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to developing an innovative care pathway for neurodiverse children and young people. As a key team member, you will help shape the future of mental health support in Devon.

As an SMHP within our Neurodiversity pathway, your responsibilities will include:

1. Conducting high-quality, specialist assessments to understand the needs of neurodiverse children and young people.
2. Using your leadership skills to develop evidence-based clinical interventions.
3. Providing evidence-based interventions to children, young people, and their families.
4. Offering clinical supervision to team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
5. Guiding and training colleagues, families, and partner agencies to ensure a unified approach.
6. Staying informed about the latest research and best practices in neurodiversity and mental health.
7. Building strong links within the pathway and the wider CFHD network.

Person Specification


Experience

* Experience working collaboratively with service users, families, and carers, including goal-based care and outcome measures.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and across agencies.
* Experience with children and young people's mental health, maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.
* Experience conducting specialist mental health assessments and interventions with complex needs, including risk assessments.
* Experience safeguarding children and working with other agencies to ensure safety.


Qualifications

* Degree plus specialist training or equivalent experience to Masters level in a relevant profession (e.g., Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy).
* Training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
* Registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP).
* Training or willingness to train in supervision and leadership skills.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.


Knowledge, skills, and abilities

* Ability to travel across Devon.
